Dr. Manish Jain: Leading GI & HPB Oncosurgeon and Robotic Surgeon
Dr. Manish Jain is a highly esteemed Surgical Gastroenterologist, GI & HPB Oncosurgeon, and a pioneer in Robotic Surgery. With a career spanning over two decades, he brings unparalleled expertise to the treatment of complex digestive system cancers and conditions.
s Currently, Dr. Jain serves as the Director and Head of GI Oncosurgery, GI & HPB Surgery, and Robotic Surgery at Action Cancer Hospital and Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute in New Delhi. In this leadership role, he spearheads comprehensive surgical programs dedicated to delivering advanced, patient-centric care.

Expertise & Training

Dr. Jain's foundational medical journey began in Delhi, where he completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) & GTB Hospital. Following his senior residency, he pursued highly specialized training in DrNB GI Surgery at GEM Hospital, Coimbatore, under the direct mentorship of the renowned Dr. C. Palanivelu, where he mastered basic and advanced laparoscopic techniques.

His dedication to oncology was further honed through a year-long tenure in GI Oncosurgery at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, New Delhi. With a special interest in minimally invasive techniques, he sought advanced training opportunities at prestigious international centers, including the National Cancer Center, Tokyo, Japan.

A Leader in Robotic GI Oncosurgery

Dr. Jain is a Certified Robotic Surgeon and an official National Proctor for Robotic GI Oncosurgery for Intuitive (Da Vinci X and Xi systems). His commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for superior patient outcomes is evident in his extensive experience. He has successfully performed over 1000 GI and HPB surgeries to date, including more than 200 complex robotic GI Oncosurgery cases in the last two years alone. As a national proctor, he actively trains and guides surgeons across North India, having officially proctored robotic surgeries in 8 leading hospitals, including Action Balaji Hospital and FMRI Gurugram.

Comprehensive Surgical Spectrum

Dr. Jain's vast surgical repertoire encompasses a wide array of complex GI and HPB oncological procedures, including:

  • Rectal Cancer: Robotic or laparoscopic Low Anterior Resection (LAR), Extralevator Abdominoperineal Excision (ELAPE), sphincter-preserving surgeries, pelvic lymph node dissection, Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) with HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) for peritoneal disease, Pelvic Exenteration, and PIPAC (Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy). He is also a Certified PIPAC surgeon, having completed ISSPP-certified training in 2024.
  • Colon Cancer: Laparoscopic, robotic, and open colectomy.
  • Stomach Cancer: D2 subtotal/total gastrectomy.
  • Esophageal Cancer: Thoracoscopic/robotic esophagectomy performed in prone or semi-prone positions.
  • Gallbladder Cancer: Complex resections for challenging gallbladder malignancies.
  • Pancreatic Cancers: Whipple's procedure, portal vein resection, distal pancreatic splenectomy, and management of neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas.
  • Liver Resections: For colorectal liver metastasis and hepatocellular carcinoma.
